The Jewel Friction Welder eliminates the guesswork that often leads to faulty connections between polyurethane V-belts and round belts. There are three problems with heated paddles that can lead to a faulty connection. Many of these faults are not visible to the naked eye – often there is no way to detect a faulty connection until it breaks.

Incorrect or uneven pressure applied by hand can lead to uneven welds. Excessive pressure forces molten material out the sides, resulting in a weak joint in the center of the frame ends.
Misalignment of the ends can also lead to a weak joint, as the rounded frame ends won't be in full contact.
Estimating the temperature of the Teflon spatula can be unreliable. Is enough material melting to create a strong bond? Has the temperature remained constant over time, or has the tool lost its ability to maintain a consistent temperature?

The jewel eliminates all these problems and assumptions that can lead to a faulty connection.
