TIMING BELT WITH GUIDE PROFILE
A guide profile is applied either by welding it into the tooth surface of an existing timing belt or by extruding it during the manufacturing process. The extrusion method increases durability and strength because the guide profile and timing belt are extruded as a single unit. We offer a wide range of guide profiles made of thermoplastic polyurethane in smooth and tinned finishes, available in white, transparent, green, and blue. All blue and white profiles are food-grade. Available versions include TK5-K6, ATK5-K6, TK10-K6, TK10-K13, ATK10-K6, ATK10-K13, HK-K13, and BATK10-K6.
An open guide profile timing belt can be assembled into an endless timing belt in your desired dimensions, either mechanically or by welding the belts together. The timing belt can be manufactured with welded fingers, or you can purchase your own welding equipment and weld the belt yourself. With a welded timing belt, you should expect approximately 50% less tensile strength than with a fully cast timing belt because the reinforcement in an open profile is overlapping. You can also obtain open guide profile timing belts that are mechanically assembled using pin mounting, which allows for easy and quick installation of the timing belt directly on the application. Open toothed belts with guide profiles can be advantageously provided with a nylon coating on the teeth or on the back of the toothed belt, which improves the running properties and reduces noise generation through a lower coefficient of friction.
